About the Jonsdorf Observatory

The Jonsdorf observatory was inaugurated on August 11, 1962 after several months of construction. It was built by the Sternenfreunde and their friends on their own initiative. The Jonsdorf Star Friends initially consisted of five members and were led by star friend Ziegler. The observatory has been integrated into the Jonsdorfer Gebirgsverein 1880 e.V. since 01.01.2002.

Observatory guided tours

The observation device is a combined instrument consisting of a Nasmyth reflector telescope, two Newtonian telescopes and a refractor with the possibility of observing the sun. We have also had a mobile telescope for some time now. This can be ordered together with staff. Price by arrangement.

Public guided tours are offered at the observatory. During these tours, selected objects in the starry sky can be observed or lectures are given. Private guided tours can also be booked. Here too, price by arrangement.
