Our association

Club history
On March 30, 2001, the Jonsdorfer Gebirgsverein 1880 e. V. was re-established in the tradition of the old mountain club.
The association feels connected to the former mining association and sees itself as its successor. Since its foundation, the association has continuously taken care of the preservation of the “Schwarzes Loch” show mine, the Steenbruchschmiede forge, the observatory and the clubhouse. This has involved countless hours of voluntary work. The association also feels responsible for the maintenance and safety of the hiking trails.
The focus is on the maintenance of the "Schwarzes Loch" show mine with its adjoining quarry forge and the operation of the "Jonsdorf Observatory". We also offer guided hikes through the Jonsdorf millstone quarries with visits to the show mine, the Steenbruchschmiede forge, the nature trail and the Jonsdorf rock town.

We support landscape and nature conservation
The association is committed to the goals of landscape and nature conservation. The association grounds are located on the property “An der Sternwarte 6”.
Another focus of our work is socializing. We achieve this through children’s and club parties, joint outings, bowling evenings, lectures on various topics and much more.
Are you curious? We are always happy to welcome new members and interested parties. You can join for €2.50/month. It’s free to come and have a taster. 🙂
